Our Purpose and Vision
Our mission is to advance philanthropy in Carlsbad in order to
- Build community excellence
- Stimulate innovation
- Enhance capacity of nonprofits
- Meet emerging needs by encouraging and increasing responsible and effective philanthropy by and for the benefit of all who live, work and play in Carlsbad
- Build a Carlsbad community endowment
- Provide funding annually to Carlsbad organizations and causes
- Give Carlsbad community members a vehicle for legacy planning and gifts that will benefit Carlsbad now and forever
Our Purpose is to:
- Individuals can become members of The Carlsbad Charitable Foundation by making a donation of $1,000 or more.
- Businesses can become members by making contribution based on number of employees
1 to 5 employees - $1,500
6 to 15 employees - $2,500
16 to 30 employees - $5,000
31 to 50 employees - $7,500
> 50 employees - $10,000 - Half of the money will immediately go into annual grant making
- Half will go into a permanent endowment
- All members will vote each year for the local they deem most worthy and most needed
- Will accept contributions of less than $1000
Structure:
- Recruit 250 Founding members
Our Short Term Goals:
- By 2012 endow Carlsbad with a $5 million endowment that will benefit the community now and forever
- By 2012 provide at least $250,000 per year to benefit organizations and individuals in Carlsbad
Our Long Term Goals:
- Commitments and contributions - $500,000 plus 105 members
- 4-to-1 Matching Grant from The City of Carlsbad, maximum $25,000
